Working With the Author

In October 2022, I took a trip to London and Scotland through EF Ultimate Break and had the most amazing time. While on the trip, I became close with my travel mates, especially Ethan, who shared my love for books and southern living. Throughout the trip, Ethan and I discussed books and our desire to write and publish our own. Ethan was further along in his progress toward achieving that goal, having already written a collection of romantic and southern gothic poetry.

After our trip concluded, Ethan and I kept in touch and made plans to work together once he finished making the final touches to his collection of poetry. In April 2023, I copyedited and then proofread Ethan’s book, while also assisting with the cover design, author bio, and process of publishing through Kindle Direct Publishing.

Details of Our Work

We began by going through my questionnaire for copyediting, which provided me with the information needed to ensure that I was editing and making suggestions that met the target audience’s reading level and interests.

Next, I copyedited the entire collection of poetry, which was a bit of a challenge, with this being my first opportunity to work with poetry. Afterward, Ethan and I went through my edits, and he took them under consideration for a few weeks before deciding to return for a proofread of the entire collection again, along with the cover, author bio, and acknowledgments.

Lastly, I assisted with uploading the entire manuscript to KDP and provided Ethan with ideas on how to market his new book.

Key Results From Working Together

The result of our collaboration is Ethan's completed and polished poetry collection.

In July 2023, Ethan officially published his collection of poetry titled Dust. Within the first three months, Ethan had sold over one hundred copies via KDP and in several local coffee shops. The book also has a 4.8-star rating on Amazon and several positive reviews.
